Aaahh I do also like this scene most. There’s so much emotion on this page. True that he didn’t kiss her, but his expression and the way Iragashi pictured the whole page speaks volume. Albert’s gaze, his darken eyes, his tender facial expression, and the swirl of wind and those little bubbles drawn to show the surrounding atmosphere. Those who are familiar with manga certainly know its meaning. The same swirl of winds also appeared on the scene of Prince revelation. This page certainly showed that in this state Albert had already been in love with Candy. Friends or even brother don’t show that kind of gesture. It’s different with the affection showed by Archie and Stear.

I also think that it’s better this way, he did not kiss her. He just gained back his memory, he knew who he was. Being a gentlemen, he wouldn’t take advantage of her, more over he did believe she still loved Terry very much. Though eventually he kissed her forehead that night when Neil tricked her.

Albert’s selfless love was really moving indeed. Her happiness was all he wanted, and he repeated it on his letter to Candy where then she replied : herein lies my happiness; in now. **yipiieeeee** 🙂

Very well said, Reeka dear! Indeed, after years of reading manga, this page does convey a strong sense of emotions, including the ones before and after as well. We could see the struggles in Albert’s eyes and expressions, and the way he went home with heavy gait, likely debating whether to inform his roommate his recovery or how much to tell her. And there she was, collapsed on the floor after crying so hard. His heart must have swollen with deep feelings for her, and he couldn’t help expressing his tenderness towards her (believing she was asleep).

I totally agree with you that he wouldn’t take advantage of her while she was sleeping, especially after she had cried because of Terry. Yes, he kissed her forehead the night she had been tricked by Neil. You know, he did that after he had made a comment that Neil didn’t seem to know how else to show his love. In fact, Albert’s love for Candy was so much deeper. He loved her but put her needs before his. So selfless and touching indeed.

That letter to Candy in CCFS epilogue! Albert did it again! He said “I want to know where your happiness lies”, and soon after that, he returned her diary to her. No wonder she replied “herein lies my happiness”… *Happy sigh*

        Can’t help adding this :

this gesture of Albert didn’t take advantage of Candy was quite opposite with the act of the rebel. Who forced to kiss her on lips, so that she could forget Anthony. — I am referring to manga here. Terry forcedly kissed her on May Festival after Candy had stopped dancing and said she recognised the song when Anthony danced with her.

So true so true!! Candy wasn’t quite ready though she clearly had crush on Terry, so he thought he could steal a kiss from her? That was an impulsive action, I grant him that, but what happened afterwards, all that slapping, was totally unacceptable.

Talking about that, among Candy’s three loves, only Albert hadn’t used violence (although he was the strongest of all). Even Anthony, always kind and gentle like his uncle, lost his temper once. Sigh.

          • Reeka says:

Yes, many times I questioned Anthony’s reaction after she found Candy the day after she disappeared. Why slapping her? If he was so worried, scolding her would be better option. Or maybe, Mizuki wanted to highlight Albert’s tenderness if people compared the three loves of Candy’s?

It’s funny though that we found 2 of her 3 loves had lost temper with Candy. What an indomitable charming girl she was! 🙂

Back to Albert’s decision to do everything to make her happy, I remember a wise advice for loving someone. “If you love someone, let her go. If she comes back to you, she’s yours forever.” — That is exactly what happened on Rockstown case.

            Beautiful, isn’t it?

Exactly. The kiss on the forehead by Albert and Anthony in the manga was never transpired in the anime and I was very disappointed. I can’t believe they even excluded Anthony… : (

      • Ms Puddle says:

But they added lots of scenes for Anthony which were not in the manga. However, they removed important moments of Albert and Candy….

Wow I’m impressed! You did wonderful job on coloring the manga!

Yes, I thought Albert was going to kiss Candy when his face was a little closer to her face. It’s one of my favorites too 😀

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you for your compliment! Glad you love this scene too!

    • Guest says:

Pardon my lack of explanation. I got so excited my mind just messed up. What I meant to say is… when I first read the manga, I thought Albert was going to kiss her. It would have been nicer if he did, including in Anime version 😛

Speaking of kiss……. Albert kissed Candy on her forehead in the manga, but not in the anime. Even Anthony didn’t (Anime). Just Terry. Why is that? That was unfair…. : (

      • Ms Puddle says:

No I actually disagree… Albert was troubled by the fact he had fallen in love, and Candy was still grieving at her loss.

About the anime version, yes I think it was biased… Talking about favoritism eh? 😉
