Of course your theory is right; Terrus couldn´t be Anohito, because he couldn´t be the heir….that simple!!!! 😉

^_^ I’ve told you almost everything about my opinion on this jewelry box clue. I know I might sound biased, but I just couldn’t put Terry on this jewelry box case.

If ones wanted to argue it was The Grandchester’s, they needed quite a lot assumptions or imaginations. Many “what if ” are needed. I’m sure Mizuki had thought about it. Why she presented us a precious damascened jewelry box in CCFS? Why not just a simple box? Because she wanted us refering to an heir! And it’s obvious who had the destiny as an heir.

And I agree with SweetCandyAndley, the way Anohito just simply laughed and said C could use it for anything, it’s so Albert.

In my ideal Candy Candy world, I imagine that Elroy was the one who had kept it for so long and then she gave it to C in front of Albert. ^^

Hi there Reeka! Yes, indeed! We will need more explanation or reason why Terry returned to his ‘family’ in London and why the Duke accepted his return. Also need many imaginations why Duchess was willing to let Terry be the ‘heir’. As you said, Albert was destined to inherit everything, and he had all the authority.
Elroy presented it to C in front of A? Me too! I have this in two of my stories 😛

    Hi Ms Puddle!

Long time gone! I know! But I’m back to town!

I can’t agree with you more, and Quevivacandy’s comment is very interesting!

Right now, I don’t remember wether it was in the anime or the manga where Anthony had a jewelry box that used to belong to his mother. He lend some of her jewels to Candy. It makes me wonder, if he had it, and he was one of the direct heirs, this jewelry box was supposed to be important. I mention this because I consider it was even more meaningful for the rightful heir to have inherited such an important item. If the Ardlays were so attached to their customs and protocols, definitely the Patriarch’s wife should receive this jewelry box! I don’t think it was just a simple object! But it represented the continuance of their clan. Of course Albert would always do anything to make Candy feel at ease. She was more important than anything else, but he convinced her to keep it, anyway!

    What do you think?

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hola SweetCandyAndley!!!! Glad to hear from you again!! Wish everything goes well with you! 🙂

Anyway, I don’t recall that scene in the manga, so it’s likely in the anime. One thing I know though, Anthony wasn’t in the direct line. Only Albert was, so that was why Anthony said to Candy about the badge “only Ardlay boys have that badge”. That also explained why Anthony figured out that his young uncle had been Candy’s prince. What do you think? 😉

I agree with you that the Ardlays cared about tradition and customs a lot. It only makes sense that the heir’s wife owned this particular heirloom so that she could pass on to the next generation (her son’s wife, etc.)

I think Albert wanted Candy to keep the expensive box first because she married him and secondly no other lady was eligible to keep it. That was why he laughed in response to her remark. Don’t you think? 🙂 Of course, he would do anything to make her feel at ease, just as you said, mi amiga. 😀

always people will see what they want to see… there are A LOT of clues in CCFS.

The jewelry box I guess is one of the most clear ones. Albert is the heir, the jewelry box has been passed generation to generation in the family but as you say, who has it? It is a simple answer, the heir’s wife not the heir in himself. The duchess will never give it to Terry. He is an illegitimate son and she hated him. Also, as you said, he changed his lastname relinquishing his position. He didn’t want it, he despised it, he only wanted to be an actor… So how he can be Anohito then? It doesn matter that Candy lives with that person in England, and might be Terry because he is from England, nah… if that is so, Misuki would said something like she move back with that person to England and not just settle that they live there…. mmm that is another topic, lol..

Yesterday, I read some comments that made laugh talking about anohito. As you said, anohito means that person and it could be used to talk about a woman or a man, so one girl said it could be Annie! lol…

    1. She has been in Pony’s Hill in the spring
    2. Candy didn’t want to go with Miss Pony while she was sick just fearing to be scolded to be with Annie in England
    3. She could have given the jewelry box to Candy. If somegirls make it possible with Terry, Annie has more possibilities.
    4. Annie and Candy are huging each other all the time
    5. Although Annie were engaged to Archie, in the meantime the could get divorced.

I don’t remember the other things but everything was in a teasing way… 😀 And I don’t know why I’m writing about this right now… lol…

    • Ms Puddle says:

Exactly, QuevivaCandy my dear! Very well said. It’s a jewelry box, so the owner is usually the lady of the house. Since it’s an heirloom, it makes sense that the wife of the heir owns it.

Why would Terry want to return to his family in London? He never liked them either.

Plus, the Duke was still young, and he probably didn’t die yet in 1930s… Who knows? 😉

Anohito is Annie?! Laughing out loud!!

I agree with you ms puddle!!!

  6. antlay31 says:

    Good morning Ms Puddle

I completely agree with you Ms Puddle !

I also think the Duke hasn’t given the box at Terry but on his legitimate son.
When Anohito laughs : “Then you can use for any purpose as you like !” It sounds like Albert, of course !

Very interesting insights Ms Puddle !

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thanks dear Antlay!! 🙂 I can’t imagine the Duchess passing an expensive heirloom to Terry at all… Lol.
Yes, it does sound more like Albert :-)… But I don’t know the original Japanese text. This was from spoilers after all 😉
