Hi Ms Puddle, I’m new to this forum. I recently felt really nostalgic for Candy, Candy and stumbled upon this site, which I’ve found very useful! 🙂

Thanks Ms Puddle! I’m curious, is the Candy, Candy Final Story available in English? Actually, is the manga itself available in English as well? I’m Australian-Chinese but I only read and write English, don’t read Chinese which the manga has been translated into. I watched the first 25 episodes of the anime when I was a kid, and I just fell in love with the story – I think it left a very strong impression because the last episode I watched was the one in which Anthony died. 🙁 Lately, I’ve been feeling rather nostalgic for Candy and started reading up on it. I grew up on Japanese anime and Candy’s story is so beautiful that I felt compelled to learn more about it. I didn’t know anything about what happened to Candy after Anthony died, until I started reading up on all these helpful sites, including your blog! I appreciate your insights and I do agree with you – I think Albert was destined to be Candy’s ultimate love. 🙂 And I don’t get why people say Terry was her soulmate – I think Albert was!

Hello there, are you Kat? I’ve approved your previous comment already in case you didn’t notice.
So you live in Australia? Greetings from Canada! 🙂

Candy Candy Final Story was written in Japanese and translated to Italian, but I don’t know if there will be other official translations. It’s too bad you can’t read Chinese because it does have an official translation of the manga version, and the English one (you can find a few online) is by fans, not official. If you can read French or Spanish, they have excellent official translations as well.

Like you, I don’t understand why people consider Terry as Candy’s soulmate while they hardly knew each other at all (otherwise, they wouldn’t have been so easily tricked by Elisa). On the other hand, the friendship between Albert and Candy was so much stronger. Anyway, thank you so much for reading my posts, and hopefully we will talk more in the near future. 🙂

Hi Ms Puddle! Oh, so you’re based in Canada! Actually I’m now based in Hong Kong, been here since leaving Aussie several years ago. I have ordered the anime DVD box set of Candy, Candy with English subtitles, would be nice to take a walk down memory lane and re-watch the first 25 episodes, and then watch the ones I missed out on all those years ago! 🙂 By the way, have you ever seen an anime called Lady Lynn Rin? It was supposed to be a modernized version of Candy, Candy – or the main character was based on Candy, as I recall. In Cantonese, the title of the series was “New Candy, Candy”…

            • Ms Puddle says:

So you’re in Hong Kong now? It would be nice to watch the anime again. I watched half of it but stopped due to lack of time. I hope you will enjoy your walk down memory lane. 🙂

No I haven’t heard of Lady Lynn Rin. You watched it? Was it good? ^_^

maybe she blushed ’cause inside, she wanted in the mouth? lol…. just kidding

Well, I guess she felt it was so unexpected from him. I only blush if I found attractive the person in front of me, if not, nah, the world keeps being the same.

It was so, so so cute from him and then… their glances, I dont know if it is me but in their next glances, I see there a lot of things, unsaid feelings that they do not dare to say or didn’t know what was going on yet.

    awwww ‘el amor’… heheheh

Love how you colored that scene

    • Ms Puddle says:

LOL LOL… Glad you like the coloring, my friend! Candy didn’t yet understand the depth of her feelings for Albert, but she liked his spell for sure. ^_^ She blushed way more when he asked her about the badge actually. 😛 The entire episode is really very cute, and Candy leaned against Albert before falling asleep is so sweet too! Perhaps you’re right about el amor!! 😛

  3. Reeka says:

If only the manga did colour those particular drawings like you did, I might have put two and two together back then and guessed Albert was POTH. 🙂

That’s a lot I want to talk about this beautiful scene, but I need to put those scattered ideas on my brain in order first. But I must agree with you, from Candy’s facial expression after the kiss, it looks like it’s something natural for both of them to share that kind of affection. Nonetheless, for me it shows how mush she trust him. It’s part of “the marvellous sense of security” she always felt when Albert’s around.

One thing that bothers me from this scene though … how did he manage to find her? I know Albert had regained memory at that moment, so it’s possible he had his people to watch over Candy from far. Or he just guessed that it’s Neal behind that Terry’s visit story and he went to one of Leagan’s property?

    • Ms Puddle says:

Very interesting thoughts, Reeka, and you read my mind again!! I’ll continue to talk about this scene in a post.

Yes, Candy’s expression was so calm as though she expected the kiss from Albert. At the very least we can tell it was natural for him to show affection to her. Like you said, she trusted him completely.

  4. Criss Cerón says:

Is really a beautiful scene between Candy and Albert, and I believe there was many other show of affection from Albert to Candy, because it was natural between them.

And then pass the night under the stars, embraced, together… awwwwwwwwwwww

    • Ms Puddle says:

I know, dear Criss, it’s a beautiful scene between them, and spending the night together under the starry sky was romantic too, at least to Albert, lol! I agree with you that it was natural for them to show affection to each other, and this scene is full of affectionate moments! But I meant that in the entire manga Albert kissed Candy only once, on the forehead too. Sigh. 😉

  5. Agnès says:

    Hello my dear Ms Puddle!

Good choice of panel, I adore this touching scene and the way you’ve colored it as well, Ms Puddle. Thank you for your new gift! A kiss as an amulet, didn’t it? ;). So cute and intimate as the same time. The twist of her mood is evident, before the kiss she was upset and sad, after it, she became cheerful and happy. We can see that on her face. Just before the kiss, Candy seemed to be bewitched by Albert looking intensely at him. And yes, she appreciated it and more than a blush, we can see her parted lips too as she was unconsciously longing for another sort of kiss… 😉 🙂 😀 Yes, it was a magic spell, indeed!
I regret that the scene has been changed in the anime version without the kiss and without the night under the sky! 🙁

And just after that, how Albert is astonished by discovering his badge around her neck! 😀

    Have a great Tuesday!

PS : Oh, I’ve just noticed that I wrote in English today ! Lol!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Bonjour chère Agnès! It’s totally fine to me whether you comment in French or English. It’s really up to you, my friend!

As you said, this sweet scene has been changed in the anime version for unknown reason. 🙁 Hence, I’ve always wanted to color the particular panel when Albert cast his spell, especially I’ve seen more than once people mistook Albert for Terry. Sigh…

I agree with you, Agnès, that this scene is cute and intimate. In fact, I think it’s magical too. Similar to what you said, I have a feeling that when Albert looked into Candy’s eyes, she seemed to have frozen on spot, so what happened after that, his leaning toward her to kiss her on the forehead was very romantic to me. I believe that’s why she appeared placid and calm at that very instant. It was like she expected it. 😉

I didn’t write that in the post because I wasn’t sure if I have imagined too much… 😛

But you’re so right that Candy’s obvious mood change right after that was undeniable. I’m not sure if she wanted another kiss though… Lol… But for sure she not only accepted his kiss but actually appreciated it.

BTW, I wanted to color Albert right after the spell, but I dropped the idea after some thoughts. I think Igarashi did an excellent job drawing his features, and I respect Igarashi’s decision of not drawing his face. By doing that, his beautiful eyes really stood out, which looked perfect to me. Coloring it would have ruined the effect. 😛

I’ll continue talking about the badge in my next post. I’m glad you pointed it out, Agnès! 🙂

P.S. Thank you for your encouraging reviews to Le Journal. I appreciate all of them very much.
