I’ve finally read the first chapter. Great start! 😀

You’ve clearly described Albert’s desire for Candy in the last part of this chapter. I wonder about Candy’s feelings at this point. Obviously you’re saving them for the chapters to come. 🙂

As for Eliza and her mother; some people can be so dense and stupid. Eliza tells her mother that even though Candy can have anything she would like, she still returns to the orphanage and lives a simple life. Eliza and her mother don’t take any lesson from Candy’s behaviour and life. Instead they make fun of her. But, we’re used to that I guess. Their mean character adds to the story and the good character of Candy.

After reading your intro, I contemplated waiting for the story to be completed, before reading any of it. But I was too curious to wait. Hopefully I’ll manage to read the next chapter today as well. I can’t wait!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hello there, dear CKati! Nice to hear from you again! 🙂

Glad you took the time to read my first chapter, and you did grasp the main points right away! Albert had feelings for Candy, who was upset for some reason. I’ve also used Eliza and her mother to tell the story as well as showed the contrast between them and Candy. Personally I feel that Sarah’s children were spoiled because she wasn’t any better. 😛

Whether you want to wait or continue reading, it’s up to you. For sure this is not meant to be a long story, and I aim to publish short chapters every few days. 🙂

Thanks again for your interest, CKati! See you around 🙂

    • Ms Puddle says:

Muchas gracias por tú apoyo, Vera Gracía!

I’m glad to finally start writing. I have this story in my mind for some time already. So happy to receive positive feedback from you all. Saludos! 🙂

    Dear Ms Puddle,
What a nice story! I really like it! please continue to writing ! Don’t stop!
Alors, I should say that the way you tell the events to us is unique! Your style isn’t simple ,contrary very rich; it is detailed but not boring. I could imagine everything in my mind and really, I could feel what was given in the story. Very importantly , I was inside as a third person, as a witness! It is not easy task to give this impression to the readers. So I wasn’t wrong! You’re a talented author:)

    • Ms Puddle says:

Merci beaucoup, Luna! I’m speechless… Your kind words have touched my heart. No I’m not saying I’m talented, but I feel very encouraged to keep writing. I hope you’ll like what follows. 🙂 Thanks again!

  4. Evelyn says:

Wow dear friend!! Such talent, Ms Puddle, expressing and describing Candy’s beauty and Albert’s inner thoughts of love for her in such a way! He needs to tell her how he feels!!! Humm… Darren? Grrrr. Albert you better get moving with Candy!!! 😉 and those two Leagan witches always up to no good >:(
Really enjoyed this first chapter!! Can’t wait to see what happens next!!! :D. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you dear Evelyn! Yes Albert eventually would tell Candy his feelings! 😉 I try to keep each chapter short and to the point, and this time, I let the Leagans tell the story 😛 from their perspectives. Glad you enjoyed reading this, my friend. Thanks again for your support! 🙂

  5. Quevivacandy says:

On my, my dear Ms Puddle! I read the whole mini-chapter :p with an ear to ear smile! wooo 1919, yep, Candy was about to turn 21!!! Now I know which chapter inspired you, I guess, and I just recapitulated the whole chapter but now, looking it through your eyes! Their entrance, the ball, Sarah’s words, Eliza’s anger, oh my! Too many emotions! I’m so excited!

Reading how you described Albert, we cannot help but fell even more for him… awww… He is unique! And I guess she is crying because she hearded what Sara and Eliza were talking or maybe so touched for what just happened. I guess I have to wait a little bit. And Darren, hehehe, Albert will have a rival. 😀

Seriously, you got my attention and impatience waiting for the next one! More than willing to do you know what… lol…

Congrats my friend! I really missed to read your stories and thank you again for have mentioned my story. 😀

    • Ms Puddle says:

Yes my friend! That is one of my favorite chapters, and after reading that, I felt like writing again. So thank you very much, QuevivaCandy! 🙂

About Albert, I was touched when I first read CCFS spoilers about his order to make Sarah openly clear Candy’s name in front of the clan. I think it wasn’t easy for a proud lady like her, but she had no choice under Albert’s authority. 😛

Thanks again for your support and encouragement, my friend. I’ll let you find some answers in the following chapter. 🙂

    • Reeka says:

QuevivaCandy, I too knew it right away which chapter of your story Ms Puddle refers to. That was indeed a memorable chapter, you also did a great job with your imagination, Queviva. I know I’m a bad reader for not always leaving review after reading it :(, but I just want you to know that I always look forward for an update from you. Really. 🙂

      • Quevivacandy says:

Hey dear Reeka! Thank you so much for your words, I thought you already had given up with the translator, lol… but is good to know you haven’t. Don’t worry for not leaving a review, I, myself, sometimes do the samething but suddenly I show up again… In my case is matter of time… But again, is good to know you’re still following it. Thank you for that.

In early April, I wrote the first part of next chapter but then, to be honest, I wasn’t feel like writing so I left it for a while. Just took it up my pen a few days ago and I’m writing everytime that I have some free time. At least, I guess I have done a huge progress, it is almost done, almost not yet… :p

It is curious but the first part, I wrote about aunt Elroy so if you didn’t see me comment all your comments about her, it was because I avoided them. Didn’t want to read what you all said about her ’cause I wrote a few things that I think of her, so let’s see if we agree in some point even I don’t know what you covered… lol…

Hope you all are doing fine, hugs!

        • Reeka says:

          Yay! Can’t wait then.

No, you won’t believe it, but I’ve been reading numerous amount of spanish Albert-Candy fanfics. Yours was translated almost perfectly by google translator. I believe you write it in perfect spanish grammar. Of course I got headaches for most of the time reading spanish fanfics, but I am this dying for reading good A+C fanfics.

Fortunately, one of my fave writers had mercy on me and now starting to write an english fanfic again 😉 **coughing**

Queviva, now that you said it, I can’t wait to see your version of Aunt Elroy. 🙂

          • Ms Puddle says:

Dear Reeka, LOL.. thanks again for your continued support!! 😉 😛 Oh, are you saying you were talking about another English writer? Oops!! 😆

Seriously, I totally agree with you about QuevivaCandy’s writing! The Google translated version is highly understandable, though I wish I could actually read her own words. :'(

          • Evelyn says:

Hello girls! Oh but yes you are absolutely correct about Quevivacandy’s writings in Spanish. She is very eloquent and uses great Spanish!! I’m lucky I can understand and read her direct words 🙂 I haven’t had much time to read her stories but I have already pulled up “Memorias De La Señora Andrew” so I can start soon. We have much talent in this blog!!! 😀

          • Quevivacandy says:

Oh my! here we have a saying, ‘My ears were burning’ and we use it when someone was talking about you, so you girls, you just did it! lol… and really, made me blush… I have to confess I’m a maniac of grammar and spelling but at least is so encourging to know the google translation is quite understandable.

MsPuddle, I was touched by your words about reading my own words. Thank you so much, it means a lot to me. 🙂

Evely, I also want to thank you for your words and for wanting to read my stories. Well, all of them are one-shot stories, except MDLSA. Thanks again.

Reeka! wow, I’m impressed but you are right. I have found myself struggling to follow fics written in my own language… lol… I don’t want to imagine how they would end by being translated to another language! I’m not quite sure which stories you have read in spanish but if you want to, go to my FF page and check my favorite stories. I have favorited the top ten fics in spanish from all the time and another ones that I’ve liked. If you want, I can tell youl by MP which ones I like more. And we share another thing, one of our favorirte writers in English, finally decided to writing again! weee!!!!

            • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I honestly don’t feel I’m a good one, but I appreciate your continued support! Thank you, wonderful ladies!

          • Reeka says:

Ms Puddle, only a good writer dedicatedly writes a 40+ long chapters without losing its original plot. As a reader, and I say it again I’ve read A LOT of CC fanfics since I started it a year ago, I must say it’s very few fanfic writers who managed to keep the storyline steady from chapter 1 to the end. I found that most of them who wrote long story, they started losing their original plot after a while and tend to have a rush ending ( if we’re lucky to get the ending!). So when I say you’re good, yeah you’re good. 🙂

No, don’t thank me again my friend, just keep writing more stories 🙂 it will make me happy ** ya, I’m putting a pressure to you LOL**

QuevivaCandy, .. Wow! I’ll check your fave stories in ff then! Thanks! I’ve read quite a lot. But, because I got them translated, I forgot most of the titles. I recognized some writer names though. Some stories I saved the translations and I re-read them again. In Fraganti by Tita is one of my faves. She’s also an excellent writer, I may say. I even liked her Terry fic :D. She’s just updated the story today! After ages! Ahhahahaha. Then I remembered Keilant, and had saved her stories as well. You! And also Lizvet. Okay, later we’ll discuss about the stories we both favorited, okay! I’ll PM you in ff. 🙂

          • Reeka says:

            Girls,

Oh speaking of an english fanfic writer, Forever was also back! Her blog has been updated, too. Not frequent, but it’s back! She’s also my faves. Eloquent, detailed, and love to put readers on edge. The last one do no good for my heart. 🙂

  6. Antlay says:

    • Ms Puddle says:

Merci beaucoup Antlay! Glad you like my treat, 🙂 and I’ve always felt Albert wanted Sarah Leagan to openly admit to Candy that Sarah had been wrong. What a man! It also shows how much he cared for Candy! Sigh… 😛

  7. Reeka says:

Sigh. I love it everytime a writer describes the beauty of Candy’s. With such details of 1920s glamorously fine dress, her hair, her petite yet feminine figure. No wonder Eliza felt jealous and hated her. She herself had no beauty at all in her with that obnoxious attitude. She’s hopeless. 😉

I’ve never been good at remembering CCFS timeline. So at this point, Candy’s nearly 21? I hope we don’t have to wait until her birthday to see Albert losing his control and showing her his affection? 🙂 Be generous, Ms Puddle!

I believe Candy had overheard those duo witches talked earlier. She’s already harboured some feeling to Albert, that’s why she’d been crying. 🙁

And this Darren … I have a feeling he won’t stop at this party. Will he come to Chicago to visit Candy? I’d love Albert having little pressure, though.

Thank you, dear friend! I like this first chapter a lot, eventhough I still can’t catch the plot you intended to deliver in this story. And it’s good. Keep making me curious!

Oh btw, Happy birthday, Sweet Candy! 🙂

    • Ms Puddle says:

Reeka, thanks for reading! 🙂 I’m glad to hear that you like this chapter, and yes Eliza hated Candy for stealing the spotlight from her, especially because Candy was someone she despised with all her heart. 😉

Yes, based on my understanding, the opening party should be the winter or early spring right after WWI ended (Nov 1918). Candy should turn 21 in May 1919. In Miami the best weather is the winter, mild and pleasantly warm.

The rest I won’t answer, 😛 and I’m happy to make you curious, my friend! 😉

      • Reeka says:

I see. I know that you once mentioned in one of your posts that Mizuki slightly changed the timeline in CCFS, which we think she did it for Candy looking more matured, not just a mere teenager. Thanks for explaining, my friend. I am now thinking that Mizuki made several scenes (including this particular one) happened after WWI, which means Candy was around 20-21, with a purpose. 21 is an age she’s legally matured and no longer under WAA’s guardianship.

Oh yes, I’m sure you won’t answer me. I’m letting my imagination wander then while waiting for your update.

        🙂

        • Ms Puddle says:

I agree with you, Reeka. Albert and Candy lived together much longer too. It’s unclear when exactly Albert recovered and how long he had stayed with Candy after his recovery.

Sure feel free to imagine and see if you have guessed it right. 😉 😛 Thanks again for your support, my friend!

  8. Agnès says:

I was waiting for your post and I am already fond of your story, Ms Puddle. Many thanks for this beautiful gift! 😀
I enjoyed interaction between Albert & Candy and the beautiful romantic way you have described them.
I’m wondering why Candy has been crying? Has she hearing Eliza and her mother’s talk ? Such pests are they! Grrrr!
And amazing Albert always worried about her! Sigh!
    I’m looking forward to the next… 😉

    • Ms Puddle says:

You’re so fast, Agnès! I’m very glad you like the beginning, and yes I’m going to keep writing until I finish this short story! Thank you for reading, and you’ll know why Candy cried in next chapter 😉

Good luck to your adventure in writing as well! 🙂
