Sorry for my late post Ms Puddle! Happy Women’s day to you and all! 🙂 Just wanted to say that I think this image of Candy is so beautiful. She looks so peaceful, pure and one with nature! I can’t help to think that the only man that could every make this young woman happy is her prince on the hill 😉 The story is clear showing us that fate kept bringing Albert back to Candy through every stage of her life. He was there for her during her toughest times. This is the reason why Candy could confide in Albert and tell him anything and everything! She had known Albert pretty much all her life and their trust and love for each other just kept growing. In the end, Candy must have realized that they were predestined for each other!! Sigh! 😀

Hola Evelyn! Happy Women’s Day to you too! 😍

Totally agree with you that Prince on the Hill was the only man who actually could bring happiness to Candy. He managed to make her forget her pain and move on in her life, again and again. Sigh… I’m sure by the time she realized that he was her prince, she knew he was her destiny! ❤💕💖💓

    Bonjour Ms Puddle!

Bonjour Candy Bert, I really like the analogy of darkness and light! That’s brilliant, and indeed, most of us were “in the dark” until the very end when Albert revealed his last secret. I bet back then it was a shock to the readers who had been closely following the manga. 😁

I can’t agree with you more that Terry actually served the purpose of magnifying the love Albert had for Candy. He was also like a test… so true… especially during the Rockstown episode.

George as Uncle William? That’s the first time… Lol… So the revelation must have thrown you off, Candy Bert? 😁

You’re absolutely right, my friend, that Albert must be one of most sought after bachelors in the city, if not state or country. Yet, he devoted his time to an orphan living so far away in a rural area… To whom his heart belonged can’t be more obvious, just as you said, Candy Bert! ❤💖💓💕

    Bonjour Ms Puddle

    • Ms Puddle says:

      Bonjour Antlay mon amie! 😘

Yes this poem described the manga ending in advance! Well said, my friend, 😍 that Albert was a character who had always appeared unannounced, taking Candy by surprise. In addition to the examples you gave, the CCFS ending was very similar, just as you said. 😜 Who knows if Mizuki did that intentionally? 😝

It’s true that Terry’s character was fascinating and gained many fans. However, the author had her own decisions and full control of what she was going to do with her story. This is not unlike the Little Women, in which many readers felt disappointed that Jo rejected Laurie.

Besides, Mizuki said in an interview that the story of Candy Candy hadn’t changed in CCFS. You’re right, an author shouldn’t betray her own story just because she felt threatened by fans. I don’t understand why people can’t seem to accept this.

I can’t agree with you more about trying to find an excuse not to go for a long distance ride with someone I don’t like. It would have been awkward, isn’t it? 😓 If I have to, your choice of pretending to sleep wasn’t a bad idea. 😋 Yet, the Candy we know would have turned down the person right away, like she had done to Neil before. 😁😜 However, Candy was more than elated to go with her prince, who had a wonderful mood too himself, even singing to her. 😍💕❤ I think he was happy to be able to dedicate an entire day to Candy at long last. 💖💓

    Hello! Ms. Puddle

A cordial greeting and a warm hug.

    Su amiga Vera García.

    • Ms Puddle says:

      Hola Vera mi amiga! 💕

Yes I’ve been busy, but I’m glad I have shared this poem. Indeed, in more than one poem, including the ending song for the anime version, Mizuki wrote about Candy’s longing to see her prince again.

No… Prince on the Hill wasn’t only an illusion. He was real and very important to Candy all along, ever since her first heartbreak. He was always there for her. She just wasn’t aware of this until the very end. Sigh… 😍

Hugs to you too, Vera! Take care. 😘

  5. brenda says:

Hola Ms Puddle! Thanks again for your time and reply. Yes, Mizuki is a genius! it´s a pitty she couldn´t write more about
this novel. Maybe in the future she will surprise us ! Anyway, I hope you’re having a nice weekend !
    Brenda.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Yes, Brenda! 😁 Hopefully Mizuki will reveal who Anohito really is one day 😋

Nice weekend to you too, my friend! 😘😍

  6. brenda says:

Hi Ms Puddle! I am speechless! Beautiful poem and pictures! I think Mizuky’s intention about Candy and Albert were
very clear, so Terry was indeed someone special to Candy, but she didn’t forget her first crush POH, Prince Albert.
Honestly, when I saw the anime first, I didn´t see that coming. Anyway, I hope you are well and thanks for this wonderful
    post.
    Brenda.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hola Brenda! Nice to hear from you again 😘

Indeed, Mizuki’s intentions couldn’t be more obvious. No matter what happened in Candy’s life, she had never forgotten her POTH, even though their encounter had been very brief. She just didn’t know she had developed strong feelings, the feelings that moved her to tears of longing, for the same person. 😍 I guess nobody could see that coming. It was a brilliant plot really. 😁

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend! 💕

  7. QuevivaCandy says:

    Hello my dear friend!
I’m writing while Daniel is having his therapy… couldn’t help but read your post in the meantime but I have to be short.
Indeed, that poem tells us where is gonna be Candy.’s happiness at the end of the story. I didn’t know Terry was an additional character, that’s kind of funny and also speaks volumes about what Mizuki had on mind.
Talking about Albert’s feelings, I don’t know why some group keep saying they do not have romantic feelings for each other… any person who is in love or at least likes someone, wants to spend as much as they can with his/hers beloved, no matter what and that is C&A case.

Thanks a lot for keep writing!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hola mi querida amiga, QuevivaCandy! 😍

Agree with you, my friend, that Candy would end up with her prince. She longed to see him again, and she remembered him whether she was sad or happy.

Indeed Terry was later added to spice up the story, but Mizuki didn’t expect this rebel would create wars among her fans/readers. 😜😝 Remember in her interview, when referring to Terry, Mizuki already said that some people, despite being in love, couldn’t always get happy ending? I don’t recall the exact wording, but she had said something along the lines.

My previous post actually talked about Albert’s feelings for Candy. When you have some spare time (I know you’re terribly busy), please feel free to read it and let me know what you think. Of course, no rush! 💖💓😍

      • Quevivacandy says:

Well, to be honest I do not remember that, just remember the part where she says since the beginning, she knew how they (T&A) will gonna end. Their break up was already written but she never imagine how fascinating will be Terry’s character, and she wrote the scene in tears.

Anyway, what it’s important, that gives us a hugh idea about Mizuki intention. Terry was not the destined love for Candy but Albert.

Oh, yeah, I know I have a lot to catch up and I got a little bit lost with this post, ’cause you mention some things that I haven’t read yet, hehehe

I’m intrigue about Captain’s Brown letter, I remember we talked about it not too long ago… 🙂

        • Ms Puddle says:

Yes dear QuevivaCandy, about Captain Brown’s letter, I did mention your name right at the beginning of that post. If you have time, I did put the link near the end of this post for you, just in case.

Also, after replying to your comment earlier, I also added more details to this post about Mizuki’s intention of breaking up Terry and Candy. Indeed, Mizuki was firm with her original plot despite the popularity of this temporary character. That’s why in the interview Mizuki used the word, 恋(Koi), concerning his romance with Candy. It wasn’t meant to last at all.

          • Quevivacandy says:

Ohh, I just read it! Sorry, I didn’t read the post again, just reply your message. 🙂 But yep, the break-up was decided since the beginning, nothing else to say.

Thanks for the link about Captain’s Brown letter, will read it later. Now, I’m heading to bed. Tomorrow I have to be at the physiotherapist early in the morning.

Good night my friend! And see you around.

            Hugs.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Of course, QuevivaCandy my friend! Take good care of yourself and your family. The post won’t go away, so read whenever you feel like. No pressure 😍

By the time you read this, it’s probably day time. So, have a wonderful day, my dear! 💓💕

    • Reeka says:

Hello, my dear QuevivaCandy! We miss you! Hope your family and you are doing well.

      • Ms Puddle says:

Hello Reeka! Nice to hear from you again too 😘

      • Quevivacandy says:

        Hello Reeka!

Nice to heard from you! Family is well now just my son had a soccer accident last november and that has kept me away from CC World or minimized my spare time.

Hope everything is fine with you and your family.

        Miss you all too.

    • Reeka says:

Glad to hear from you, Ms Puddle!

I was smiling while reading the poem. There were too many evidences Mizuki shared about how Candy had been longing to meet her prince again. The song, poems, scenes on manga. But even I was also “guilty” for almost forgetting this prince existance. 🙁 Too many ups and downs had happened on the story that it really shocked me to read the final twist at the end of manga. You bet, until now I still can’t get over the fact how I couldn’t see it coming, the fact that Albert was POTH?

If ones read wikipedia about Mizuki, they might understand how important this Ardleys family she had created when she was so young. From this fact alone, people should’ve guessed that her heroine would end up with one of Ardley’s boys 🙂 . So yeah, Albert being Candy’s predestined love was an absolute concession. Hahaha. No matter the other side said, we couldn’t care less about it.

Wow, fascinating information about Terry being an added character! But his appearance was perfect to the whole story nonetheless. It made the whole red string of fate between Candy and Albert become more meaningful and unarguable.

About signs of Albert falling in love with Candy, even in manga we could see it! Can someone explain that expression on him when he carried her to the bed after crying over Terry’s news? And like you point here, Ms Puddle, driving hours to Pony’s home after tiring business trip just to meet his so called adoptive daughter? 🙂 come on! And it’s in 1918-1919. A road trip was rather rough and during the travel there’s not much to get entertained. No radio or a coffee shop to stop by for Albert when he was heading to Pony’s alone. LOL. All of these for what? 🙂

      • Ms Puddle says:

Dear Reeka, you’re not alone, my friend! When I first read the manga I didn’t see it coming either, and I even felt that the end was a cliffhanger… “What’s next?” I really wanted a sequel. 😜😝 I guess CCFS sorta gives us glimpses of Candy’s future with her beloved husband. 💓💖

So true about the Ardlays being like Mizuki’s imaginary friends/family. I was told that Mizuki was also inspired by “Eight Cousins” by Louisa May Alcott. I haven’t read it myself, but if you Google about it, you’ll find some similarities. 😋😁

As you said, no matter what the other side insists, Terry was a lost case right from the beginning… 😌 Just like Anthony was destined to die. It’s cruel, but Mizuki the author had planned POTH for Candy all along. The manga plot was crystal clear, and that’s why CCFS is based on the manga, not the widely known anime version.

Agree with you about Terry’s significance in the story. Though he was an afterthought, he was still important to both Candy and Albert. In addition to what you said, Terry’s character also gave Albert chances to show his unconditional love to Candy, again and again.

About signs of Albert being in love, my sentiments exactly, dear Reeka. That expression speaks volumes indeed. He couldn’t help falling in love. 💓

It’s true the roads were more rough back then, and driving wasn’t very entertaining. Besides, I’ve already talked about how much he disliked being an adoptive father in Part 2, so I won’t repeat myself here why the fact that Albert would rather spend his entire free day with Candy shows that he had strong feelings for her. 😜😍

  8. Yes, Albert is indeed Candy’s destined love! ❤
