    Hello Ladies !
Thank you very much for your kind words ! It was very funny to illustrate this letter. 😀
    Have a great day.

I cannot agree with you more my friend. That is a very special moment between them. Last week while I was translating the epilogue, I thought a lot about this particular embrace.

As you said, it is the first time that I read it was Albert the one who embrace her and the other thing that called my attention, is that in the italian version, it says, ‘When I began to cry, you IMMEDIATELY embraced me with tenderness’. That reminded me the time ‘anohito’ embraced Candy right away after she told him about being a stowaway.

Some people must say there is anything romantic on that embrace but they way they are embracing each other and the sentiment they are feeling, their souls were simply connected, feeling the same.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Indeed, this is my favorite moment in the entire CCFS! It’s so beautiful and romantic 💞❤ I can’t agree with you more about their souls being connected during their long, loving and healing embrace. I’m sure after that, they wouldn’t see each other the same again. 💞😍❤💗

In Japanese it’s slightly different however. To paraphrase it, Candy said, “I began to cry, and Albert-san tenderly embraced me”. But it does imply it was the moment when she began to cry. Sigh… 💓💕

  3. Evelyn says:

Yes, indeed, Ms Puddle! Albert was her soul mate and not any less!! Absolutely true that Candy found comfort and safety in Albert’s arms. Good point that this time it was he who tenderly took her into his arms to comfort her. You never see anyone else comforting her, not even Anthony nor Terry. She really never opened up to anyone other than Albert. Not Annie her childhood best friend, nor Archie or Stear. Sigh!!

I think this scene visiting the same forest where Anthony died is beautiful because not only Candy had been carrying the heavy burden of Anthony’s death, but also Albert had felt guilty all these years we come to find out! They both concluded that it wasn’t anyone’s fault! I believe this hug between C&A was a healing hug that both needed in order to move on with their lives!! ❤❤ Did this scene come after the return of her diary?

By the way, thank you Antlay for such beautiful collages!! They sure bring this letter to life!! 😀

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hola mi querida amiga! You’re so right, Evelyn, that we don’t see Candy confided in anyone else, not even Anthony and Terry. Albert was the only man in the story whom she could trust from the bottom of her heart. Like you, I also think this scene in the forest is the most beautiful and romantic in the entire story. Two hurting souls came together and found healing from each other. To me, their relationship wouldn’t be the same after that long, loving hug in an enchanted forest with lots and lots of bluebells, wild roses and afternoon sun rays as the backdrop. Sigh… 🌹🌹🌹

According to Candy’s letter to Albert, I believe this visit to the forest happened before the return of the diary. 😍

      • Evelyn says:

Hello my friend!! I agree and it does make sense that the return of the diary came at the end of their trip! Spending all day today together, catching up with each other but as a final note, Albert places the ball on Candy’s court by returning the one symbolic item that represented a strong past love, to find out if her happiness was still in the past or in the now!! Sigh… ❤

        • Ms Puddle says:

Yes Evelyn! That’s so true. 😍 Albert’s actions were full of symbolic meanings. He was ready to invite Candy into his life, and he wanted to find out where her heart and happiness would belong. It’s her turn to respond to his unspoken question. He gave her a choice. The fact that she ended her letter with love (愛 ai) speaks volumes. It’s a strong word in Japanese culture, not to be casually used without commitment. 🌸💗🌹

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thanks again for showing my drawing, dear Antlay! 😍 My sentiments exactly about Albert being ready to open up, beginning by his confession on Pony’s Hill. That time, if not because of George, I believe something might happen, like a hug between them? I don’t know. 😁 But this time, Candy was obviously hurting by repeating Aunt Elroy’s blame, and Albert made his move by taking her into his arms. He wanted to protect her and comfort her. If she wasn’t sure about his deep feelings before, this loving embrace would have definitely convinced her. 💓💕❤💑

  6. brenda says:

Hi Ms Puddle! Indeed, he was always there to share good times and bad times with her, like the sandwich. definitely
Candy meant a lot to Albert ! Thanks for this beautiful and sad post too. I was thinking about the last chapter in the
manga, where Candy wanted to help at a hospital near the Pony’s home, but she didn’t want to leave Albert as well.
Anyway, you could post something about that later. What do you think?
    Brenda

    • Ms Puddle says:

      Hola Brenda! Cómo estás? 😍

Yes, only Albert had been there from the beginning to the end… Even though he had vanished for some time. 😉

About that part in the manga, I actually wrote a story long time ago. If you’re interested, I’ll post the link here. 💓

Thanks for your suggestion, my friend! 😘
