Ms Puddle's Haven

Merry Christmas!!

I know half of the world is currently soaking up sunshine and warmth, but here in Vancouver Christmas means cold weather and sometimes snow if we’re lucky (yeah, White Christmas!). 🙂

Anyway, time flew by so fast indeed. I started writing my original story “My Prince Charming”, inspired by the Candy Candy manga, around last Christmas. It’s about snow mountains and Christmas, which happens in present days in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Candy did not grow up in an orphanage. Rather, she’s a young college student and used to be very sporty, so she’s much taller than the one in the original manga. Albert, in his early twenties, is an MBA graduate from a school of Business in the States.

Therefore, I’d like to take this opportunity to draw a picture based on this short story, which is also my humble gift to my friend, QuevivaCandy! She has translated three of my short stories to Spanish, and I can’t appreciate her enough for what she has done!

The stories are:

  1. Afternoon Nap (Siesta Vespertina)
  2. It must have been love (No sé si es amor)
  3. The Diary (El Diario)

My other friends, monybert-DC and lhbarba, have translated “My Prince Charming” to Spanish in the beginning of 2013. In fact, it was my first story that got translated into Spanish, and I also have “Afternoon Nap” translated to Russian, thanks to Moriko. Hence, I plan to publish these here on my blog some time next year with fanarts dedicated to them. I don’t know when yet, but please be patient with me! 😛

Just so you know, I have slightly modified my original plot and uploaded the updated version to Wattpad. The longer chapters have been split. I did that for a writing contest, and though I didn’t pass, I got new readers, which is encouraging. It’s not complete yet as of today because I have some missing scenes in mind near the end of story. I hope I will have some spare time next year to write those down to complete the story. 😀

Here, I present to you my new drawing of Albert and Candy (not from any particular scene). Their faces are red partly because of blushing but mainly because it’s freezing cold up on a snow mountain. Instead of signature pony tails, my Candy has different hairstyles in the story. For example, in this picture, she has her long golden curls braided. In addition, in case people will mistake Albert as someone else (Anthony in my story is only a child by the way), I have labeled my illustration with their names. Last but not the least, this is my first attempt to draw a kissing scene. I have tried my best, and it’s still far from flawless, but please don’t laugh. 😉
