They found love…

Thank you all for your enthusiastic feedback regarding my recent posts. 🙂 While writing my reply to Evelyn, the song “Thinking out loud” by Ed Sheeran appeared in my mind. Both Evelyn and Reeka liked this song and encouraged me to post it for others to enjoy:

When your legs don’t work like they used to before
And I can’t sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love?
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks?
And darling I will be loving you till you’re 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking bout how

People fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just a touch of the hand
Well me, I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

So honey, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars

Place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
And baby we found love right where we are

When my hair’s all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don’t remember my name
When my hands don’t play the strings the same way
Mmm, I know you will still love me the same
Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it’s evergreen
And baby, your smile’s forever in my mind and memory
And I’m thinking about how

People fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe it’s all part of a plan
Well I’ll just keep on making the same mistakes
Hoping that you’ll understand

But baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
And baby we found love right where we are

La la la la la laa

So baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Ohh darling
Place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
And baby we found love right where we are
And baby we found love right where we are

And we found love right where we are

The lyrics reminded me of Albert and Candy. They started off living together as brother and sister, but as time went by, their friendship evolved. Remember, they were caring and friendly individuals, not to mention they were both good-looking and young. After living together for so long, how could there be absolutely no mutual attraction at all? It was only natural for them to fall in love with each other, though I believe Albert realized his feelings way before Candy did. See A nice bride for example. 🙂

Some Candy Candy fans believed Candy had moved on after breaking up with Terry, but they said something like “sometimes you just have to accept that you don’t marry the person you’re passionate about“.

No doubt I disagree with that statement because it essentially means that Candy didn’t have much passion for Albert, her Prince on the Hill. If you read Candy’s first letter to her prince in Candy Candy Final Story (CCFS), you know this is terribly wrong. Do you know what Candy wrote at the end of this letter?

なんだか今夜はとうてい眠れそうにありません。

I have a feeling, it looks like I can’t possibly sleep tonight.

This was the first time Candy said she wouldn’t be able to sleep for the night, and she used the adverb, とうてい, which means “no matter how… can’t…” (please click the link for other meanings). We all know she was such a sleepyhead, but because of Albert’s important confession, she had a hunch that it was impossible for her to fall asleep that night.

How can one say Candy had no strong feelings for her prince? 🙄

Well, she didn’t chase after him all the time like she had done to Terry before, but it didn’t mean she had no passion. What’s more, in her last letter to Albert Candy said she wouldn’t be able to sleep, again. She said “again”, which could mean that she had been right in her first letter to Albert, that she hadn’t fallen asleep for the entire night after writing that short letter. Or, she might mean that ever since that day, she hadn’t been able to sleep very well because of her prince? 😉

Either way, isn’t it interesting both Candy’s first and last letter indicated she had difficulties falling asleep? 😉 As I mentioned before, she ended her last letter with all her love. A friend of mine pointed out that Candy must have pondered over the consequence beforehand. In other words, she knew what she was doing. 😉

I suppose she couldn’t get her prince out of her mind when she lay in bed, having nothing else to do. If you insist there was nothing exciting about her relationship with Albert, think again! If you like, please read one of my recent posts, A love declaration.

Guess what? I might actually take Reeka’s challenge to write a short fic. 😛 I don’t know yet, but I will see how much time I can squeeze in between my tight schedule. 😀
