Beautiful pictures of Candy and Albert, Ms Puddle!

I would like to share this link with everyone at this forum which has to do with that awful Italian continuation of the CC manga. That monstrosity is 13 volumes long and it’s one hell of an eye-sore. Did you know that the Italians “killed off” Albert in volume 11? Check it out for yourself: http://www.onlyshojo.com/candymangavol20a.htm

As for the “plot”, the Italians surely lost it with this continuation-whatever. It’s completely surreal!

Read and weep (from laughter, I would say)!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you Myra! How’s your new year so far?

Really the Italian publisher killed Albert? How? Accident or what?

Does that mean volumes 12 and 13 were fabricated? Sigh… I’ll take a look later to have a good laugh 😂🤣

      See you around 😁

      • Myra says:

We’ve had loads of seismic tremors here in Greece since the end of 2017/beginning of 2018, albeit moderate ones for the time-being. Nevertheless, there is still a cause for concern as Greece is known for its intense earthquakes. They’re happening all over the region and the seismologists have termed them “cluster-quakes”. We’ve all been break-dancing since the turn of the new year.

As for the Italian publishers, the entire 13-volume series is a mere fabrication. If you check out the link provided, you’ll first see the nine volumes which are based on Igarashi’s illustrations but with significant pages missing, most of which are those of Candy and Albert together.

Then you’ll scroll down to find the further 13 volumes which have plagiarized Igarashi’s illustrations and have cooked up a completely different story which has never been endorsed by Nagita.

In the fabricated nonsensical volume 11, Albert is “killed off” by the Italian publishers by getting him drowned in the ocean after having saved a kid which for some bizarre reason had fallen into the ocean. At least the Italians gave him an honourable death via his final heroic deeds.

Apparently the Italian publishers were avid (if not rabid) Terry-fans and desperately had to come up with a way to finish Albert off.

        • Ms Puddle says:

Hello Myra, where I live have moderate seismic activities from time to time too. I know what you mean, and hopefully these cluster quakes are actually helping to release the pressure underneath. Do you actually feel the power since the end of last year? To us, most of them were harmless because the regions were few hours away from us, and I only remember two times that were so dangerously close that we could feel the push or shake.

Based on what you said, the Italian publishers must have sensed that Albert was the one so they killed him off and fabricated the ending. Sigh… albeit a heroic death to end an important character, it was a shame they had no respect to the original story and the author. Their “passion” for Terry was no excuse.

Now I recall seeing those horrid plagiarized illustrations years ago on a Facebook page and back then I didn’t understand a word (I don’t know Italian).

At least this time the CCFS in Italian is mostly intact, despite the translation flaws. If you know Italian you can read this page — a Terry fan’s perspectives of Anohito’s identity after reading CCFS

Some of the tremors were nasty. I live in Athens and the ones which were intense was one a few days before New Year’s and the other one was a few days ago, one of which was within close proximity to Athens and the other one within Athens. Some seismologists here in Greece maintain a calm demeanour whilst others resort to scaremongering. Here’s a link to see how many after-shocks occurred even within an hour. https://twitter.com/eqgr?lang=en

Thanks for the link to the Italian site. The blogger appears to admire “bequi” quite a lot.

I’ll post a message under your new post which I’ve just finished reading.

            • Interstellar says:

I know.. I’ve read about that horrible earthquake near Corinth back in the 1980s and the devastating one right in Athens in 1999. I detest earthquakes because they’re completely beyond our control. No warning sign, no time for caution. Nothing.

Anyway, I checked the link you’ve given regarding that idiotic Italian manga version and I had a hearty laugh at this section right here-

              http://www.onlyshojo.com/Immagini/giornalinocandy/manga/volume20/candy_0068.jpg

Have you noticed that the Italian manga folk got Albert into smoking? What were they thinking? Albert was all about healthy eating, sports and high quality lifestyle. The illustrations are not even their own creation. It seems to me that they did a copy-paste of the Rockstown incident where Terry lights a cigarette after his rubbish play and mulls over on what a loser he is (Terry just feeling sorry for himself again-what else is new?) and morphed this image into Albert where he’s back into the long-haired dude after his accident. And what is Neal doing with them? They’re all in some restaurant chatting where Candy tells them that she wants to find her mom and they all just casually join in. I don’t know what Albert was smoking but I can hazard a guess at what those Italian editors must have been smoking..

Bottom line, that Italian version is a circus. They’ve even got a scene where another lion escapes and then Candy bands with Patty to fetch the lion and ship it back to Africa. They all decide to travel to Africa and on board the ship they’re saved by a Zoro-looking guy who turns out to be Albert in disguise.

              The theatre of the absurd..

              • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you for sharing, Interstellar. I wonder why they changed Albert’s character and made him a smoker… 😂 Back in that era smoking amongst grownups might be common, but why they changed only Albert?

Also, why was Neil involved? Clearly, these publishers didn’t understand much of the story….

            • Ms Puddle says:

Wow, only a few days ago?

You still sounded calm, Myra. I hope these tremors won’t affect you or your loved ones too much.

You have left two similar comments, so I decided to remove the other one. 🙂

          • Lakewood says:

            Hello Everyone,

The problem with the Italian manga doesn’t lie only in those silly 13 volumes. The Italian publishers also distorted almost all the dialogues between Candy and Albert. They had also removed entire sections, the most notable being the one where Candy and Albert are embraced on the tree following Stear’s demise.

I remember back in my childhood years that the Italian publishers never specified that the subsequent 13 volumes don’t belong to either Keiko Nagita nor Yumiko Igarashi, but kept on deceiving the children that they’re a continuation of the original story. Most children and adolescents had noticed the steep drop in quality in these 13 fabricated volumes but most of us back then didn’t really give it a second thought. Most of us had abandoned this Italian version after 2-3 volumes because it was so boring and the plot didn’t make any sense. I doubt anyone continued reading until volume 13.

If the Italians were so sure that there was so romance and chemistry between Candy and Albert, they wouldn’t have done so many things in order to wipe him out of the manga.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Yes indeed, Lakewood! I bet these publishers had sensed the threat from Albert’s character, and out of their “love” for Terry they did everything they could to ruin Albert or his interactions with Candy.

Shame shame shame on them… 😠😡

    Hello Ms Puddle,

Just read the comments section and I’m glad you’re working on a new post regarding translation issues of the CCFS. That’s going to be an interesting post because there’s been so much controversy over the translation discrepancies which aren’t restricted, unfortunately, to the novels but are also ubiquitous in the manga and anime. The translation discrepancies have been igniting loads of debates for years.

Have a great year and thanks for your lovely artwork!

    • Ms Puddle says:

      Hello Interstellar!

Happy new year! I can hardly believe it’s already mid-January 😅

Thank you for your encouraging words, and though I’m slow I’m trying my best, a bit every day. Hopefully by the end of this week I’ll be able to finalize my post (keeping my fingers crossed) 😁

      See you around 😚

Beautiful artwork, Ms Puddle! Just managed to see your recent work since the holidays.

Looking forward to your next fascinating posts!

    Best Wishes,
    Lakewood

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hello Lakewood! Thank you for your kind words, and it means a lot to me when you took the time to leave a comment despite your busy schedule. 😘

Yes, I’m currently writing a new post regarding translations. Once again, may I quote one of your earlier comments concerning the discrepancies?

Best wishes to you too 💓

      • Lakewood says:

        Hello Ms Puddle,

Of-course you may quote me in your next post. I’m looking forward to your work regarding translations because you’ve been doing loads of high quality analysis concerning translation issues. It’s a complex topic and I could presume it’s one of the key reasons why the fans have been arguing so much for so long. I don’t think it’s because of Nagita being ambiguous but because there are so many different versions and altered (either deliberately or inadvertently) translations.

As promised, I’ll provide my thorough analysis on the legal implications and eligibility of adoption after your next post. I’ve re-checked my sources and I’ve got some interesting material on that matter.

        Have a great year!
        Lakewood

        • Ms Puddle says:

Lakewood, you’re making me blush… 😅 because I’m writing very slowly for the time being. Real life responsibilities and events did get in my way, but I’m trying my best. 😁

Thanks for letting me quote your comment (s)! It’s very helpful because I personally don’t understand Italian.

Truly looking forward to reading your analysis and insights concerning adoption and its legal implications 👏👍

You have a great year too, Lakewood 😗
