Thank you for another beautiful chapter, Ms. Puddle. It was very interesting to see those flashbacks and watch Albert with Kim. I kind of liked them together. Although I strongly support the romantic relationship between Albert and Candy, I’ve often wondered what it would be like if we saw Albert in love with another woman. I agree with the theory that there might have been something romantic between him and the young nurse, otherwise why should he bother to mention her in his letter to Candy? Probably she was not just a co-worker like the others. Nagita didn’t reveal much about it so we are free to speculate.

I have the feeling that something is going to happen in Stear’s memorial. Tension is brewing, and I think Great Aunt Elroy is up to something. I’m not convinced that she’s got suddenly so kind to Candy with no reason at all. Let’s wait and see.

The picture by Corinne Messeant might easily portray Pony’s Hill. A very good choice. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Take care, and a Happy Halloween!

Hello Fay, thank you very much for your kind words! 🥰 I realize I forgot to mention that you have updated your CCFS translations. Sorry about that.

So happy to hear that you kind of like reading about Kim and Albert. That’s very encouraging. Thank you! 🤗 As I have mentioned to others, I wonder how Albert found out about the young nurse’s age and why he singled her out in his letter to Candy. 😉

Like you, I fully support the romantic relationship between Candy and Albert. Hence, in my fanfic, Albert was clearly attracted to Kim in Africa but could not be honest with her.

Glad you also like the picture contributed by Corinne Messeant! I thanked her right away when I received it. 💝

You take care too and stay safe! I’ll avoid the crowds tomorrow.

That’s right. We are all most grateful to @Ms Puddle for having embraced our contributions and commentary. I would also like to thank @Corinne Messeant for her lovely photo of the hill which looks so similar to the one described by Keiko Nagita and depicted by Yumiko Igarashi.

You take care too, @Fay, and stay safe.

            • Aurora says:

Many thanks from me too, Fay!

Your blog and fascinating analysis along with your classy demeanour are what make this CC community a bit less toxic. If only more folks could follow your laudable example..

                • Ms Puddle says:

I’m speechless, but thank you so much @Sarah for your highly encouraging feedback, which is deeply appreciated❣️ I’ll try my best to keep up 😊

Hi! Glad to have received an update to your new fanfic. I have wanted to know more about Albert the North American nurse he seems to admire so much. In the original story, not much info is provided but it’s good to know that Albert’s background inspires subsequent fanfics.

    Take Care and Stay Safe!

  3. Aurora says:

Loved this chapter and really appreciate the ways in which you bring out Albert’s sensual side. In the novel, he’s depicted more as a rational and cerebral individual whose background comprises academic education and intellectual upbringing all wrapped up in a beautiful man physically and mentally. Further on into the novel, however, Nagita actually provides some hints of Albert’s more humane and sensual aspects albeit unobtrusive and very much implicit, especially in the Epilogue.

In a way, Albert’s character reminds me that of ‘Mark Darcy’ in “Bridget Jones’s Diary”. Have you watched that movie? I’ll provide a link from Imdb which gives some useful info along with the cast. Colin Firth played the role of ‘Mark Darcy’ (which is apparently an allusion-if not subtly sarcastic reference-to Fitzwilliam Darcy in Jane Austen’s novel “Pride and Prejudice”. Take note that Colin Firth had played role of Mr Darcy and became renowned for his performance. However, his role as ‘Mark Darcy’ in “Bridget Jones’s Diary” is different and much akin to Albert’s character. Mark Darcy is highly educated in law and economic just as Albert is but he’s also a bit of a loner albert very independent, mature and self-reliant. On the other hand, ‘Daniel Cleaver’ (as played by Hugh Grant) inclines towards Terry’s toxic character even though he initially appears as charming and a bit of a tease (just like Terry). As for the main character, ‘Bridget Jones’, it’s amazing how much she looks, thinks and acts like Candy in many ways. This leading role is played by Renée Zellweger.

By all means, this movie is not identical to the Nagita’s novel and neither are any of the characters between the aforementioned movie. However, there are notable similarities which, presumably, have to do with various tropes which are endemic in many forms of entertainment whether it be movies or ‘light novels’ such as the CCFS (CCHD).

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you so much @Aurora. 🤗 I’m delighted to know that you like reading Albert’s sensual side. You’re right in CCFS he’s more human and can be emotional too, starting from his confession on the hill to the return of the diary. The readers can sense that he has strong feelings for Candy. 💕 Only some stubborn fans refuse to see something so obvious.

Yes I watched Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice as well as Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones’ Diary. It’s a compliment that you compare my version of Albert in this fanfic to Mark Darcy. Indeed, I see your points, and Daniel Cleaver does appear like Terry (but in my opinion Terry is better). However, I don’t see Candy as Bridget Jones though, because Candy has always liked Albert since the beginning. Her feelings for him evolved over time though.

      • Aurora says:

I agree with you, Ms Puddle.
As mentioned in my previous comment, there are apparent differences between Bridget Jones and Candy in terms of their story and character. However, I consider Daniel Cleaver to be a better character than Terry because he doesn’t physically abuse and demean women as Terry does. He’s toxic like Terry but not nearly as abusive and violent.
Fortunately, douche-bags like Terry have been cancelled by modern-day civilized, developed and intelligent societies, hence, having such antiquated characters reduced to a mere quaint remnants of the past adulated only by desperate old creatures who continue to be glued to a decadent past.
As for Mark Darcy and Albert, they have considerable differences as well. For example, Darcy is a bit of a snob, whereas Albert is inclusive and progressive. The common denominator between those two characters, however, is their higher education, intelligence, personal integrity as well as their respect for women, especially the women they love.
In particular, I appreciate the scene where Mark Darcy confesses to Bridget that he likes her just the way she is. This scene is akin to Albert’s confession to Candy that he enjoys her spontaneity and wants her to retain her genuine self in their correspondence and subsequent encounters.

        • Aurora says:

Btw, you’re not the only one concerned about editing..

There’s an ‘a’ which mysteriously slipped into a sentence I was redacting: [..reduced to (a) mere quaint remnants of the past..].

Just ignore it and thanks again for your time.😉

        • Ms Puddle says:

I mostly agree with you, @Aurora. I said Terry was better mainly because he didn’t mean to trick Candy by playing a victim. Yes he had temper issues and even resorted to violence, but I believe he did have genuine feelings for Candy. It’s just that he loved himself or his career more. On the other hand, Daniel Cleaver is like Mr. Wickham in Pride and Prejudice, IMHO. 😉

          • Myra says:

Daniel Cleaver also had genuine feelings for Bridget but his aloof mindset in tandem with his reckless sexual life rendered him utterly inept in establishing and maintaining a meaningful relationship.

    Hello Ms Puddle!

I finally got myself up to date with your Fanfic and look at what I found at the end! The GIF’s that you so kindly gave me permission to do create your illustrations 💕🥰

It just occurred to me that I should probably also make them in English 😉 . Again, I thank you for your permission, if I may say it so myself, I think they turned out beautiful… but your art IS beautiful!

Now, regarding your Fanfic, I’m so excited to discover how will Albert react when he sees Candy, and also, what will Aunt Elroy say about her? Will she notice anything suspicious in the way her nephew treats/sees her?

I just have a question (another)… At this point in your story, is Albert already aware of his feelings for Candy? or is he still regarding her only as his friend and questioning himself as to why does he dream with her, etc?… I guess I will need to wait and see!…

As per Kim, I guess we all want to think that Albert was always somehow attached to Candy and never felt anything for someone else, but the truth is (as far as fiction goes) that it’s totally posible that he fell in love before, at least once, and it might have happened in Africa, with that nurse that even he said resembled Candy… otherwise, why did Nagita bother to write about her? In all three formats btw! Unless she was trying to tell us that even far away, Albert remembered Candy and even saw her (somehow) reflected in someone else.

But it’s so relatable to me that which you wrote regarding him not wanting to hurt another lady (or Kim for that matter), and deliberately guarding his feelings and actions. People might say these kind of men do not exist, but I say they do, and I at least know one very well. Funny enough, Albert’s thoughts were exactly his words when I asked “Why no more girlfriends?” Is these type of men who care for other people’s feelings who are really a treasure, as Albert sure is.

Thank you again for this incredible story that I’m enjoying so much! Will wait patiently for the next chapter. 🌹

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you so much @amygiz for your kind words and encouragement! Your GIFs are well done, and I’m still very impressed ❣️

About my fanfic, thanks for catching up. 😍 I won’t give spoilers so please be patient with me. So happy to hear that you don’t mind me writing about Albert’s past love. As you said, the fact that he mentioned such a nurse in his letter to Candy means something.

Your real life example of a male friend reminds me that there are wonderful guys out there who truly respect others’ feelings, including women’s. You must be proud of your friend. 🤗

  5. Lynn says:

    Hello Ms Puddle,

Pleased to read your new chapter. The flashbacks to Albert and Kimberly are so interesting and add to the character development significantly.

Hope you are fine and well. It’s good to know that your professional development is progressing even if that means more work. Besides, more work is better than no work in our day and age.

    Kind Regards,
    Lynn

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you @Lynn, and I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed reading the flashbacks 😍🤗

I signed it up for my career and yes, that means more work lol. You’re right. Many people are unemployed due to the pandemic. For example, the healthcare workers who refuse to get vaccinated are given deadlines. Either they get vaccinated or get fired. Sigh…

      Best regards to you too!

      • Lynn says:

In such professionals which have to do with health and safety, arguably, mandatory vaccination for all health-care workers (doctors, nurses, cleaning staff, etc) involved would have to be implemented.

        • Lynn says:

          Typo: In such professions..

        • Ms Puddle says:

Totally agree with you, @Lynn. If they have legitimate health reasons, they would be exempt. Otherwise, I honestly don’t understand why they would be reluctant. 🤔

          • Lynn says:

It goes without saying that those who have medically verifiable and legitimate reasons should be exempt from receiving the vaccine, and in virtually all cases, they already are.

However, there are certain morons who fear ‘getting the jab’ because of alleged side-effects; yet, most of those anti-vaxxers are middle-aged (or elderly), flabby and have an awful lifestyle which involves smoking, alcohol and junk-food consumption.

It’s sheer common sense that those who smoke and drink alcohol (irresponsibly) are dumbass losers who are already putting their lives at severe risk. The aforesaid vaccine poses a far less health hazard that getting oneself into the brain-damaged habit of smoking and dabbling into other worthless as well as self-destructive habits.

            • Sarah says:

The irony is that those who are more health-conscious are smarter, younger and eventually stronger people. It’s probably a psychological as well as cultural-or rather, subcultural-trend…
Back in the 70s-80s, it was considered to be “cool” to smoke, drink booze and be reckless. Those clowns are now, predominantly, in their 50s-60s and their skin looks even more wrinkly and their teeth even more decayed than that of a 90-year-old. Some aunts and uncles of mine who are in their 50s look and feel like crap due to smoking, whereas older folk who refrained from smoking continue to look fab and be vibrant. Needless to mention that those who smoke have faecal breath and poor hygiene. In most cases, these are the same idiots who also oppose getting vaccinated due to their “faith” in ludicrous and hysterical conspiracy theories circulating on social media from charlatans.
Fortunately, the habits and mentalities have changed in our modern times. Younger folks are much more aware of the detrimental effects of smoking and other other pathetic addictions which put them directly onto the “fast-lane” leading much sooner to their grave. The younger folk are also those who focus on the importance of science and demonstrate greater consideration to the environment.

              • Ms Puddle says:

Agree with you both @Sarah and @Lynn. Other than what you have already pointed out, I just want to say some anti-vaxxers are actually young. Despite their age or education, they rather believe what they’ve read after doing some “extensive Google search” than the scientific reports.

                • Sarah says:

Unfortunately, stupidity knows no limits whether someone is younger or older..

It’s 2021 and there are still morons out there who put social media charlatans over scientists.

                  Modern times but medieval mentalities…

                • Ms Puddle says:

@Sarah, this is unfortunate indeed. For example, the other day I happened to see a post on Facebook, possibly written by an anti-vaxxer, that claimed vaccines were useless. It said something like “people get flu shots every year but people still get sick year after year”… sigh… 🙁

                • Lynn says:

I agree with you on that.

                • Sarah says:

The problem is that certain unintelligent people have conflated the common cold or seasonal flu with this lethal virus which is currently afflicting humanity. I don’t think there is really any point in trying to reason with them. All we can do is protect ourselves and the ones we care about in tandem with taking all the proper safety and hygiene measures as much as possible. Social distancing will be required far longer than originally fathomed by scientists and doctors alike.

  6. Jesse says:

Another fine chapter @Ms Puddle! This background story about Albert and Kimberly is so intriguing. Yet, it seems that Nagita had implied that something was going on between them, otherwise, Albert wouldn’t have bothered to mention this beautiful American nurse in his first letter to Candy. His admiration for her was noticeable and noteworthy.
Beyond any shadow of a doubt, Albert not only represents but epitomises the notion of the individual who knows how to respect oneself and others, hence, mustering utmost integrity. His so-called haters are just a bunch of pathetic and crazy old hags who have never received (nor given) any form of love or respect and that’s why they hate awesome characters such as Albert. In reality, they have always wanted someone like Albert but failed to have someone like him in their dreary lives, presumably, because they do not deserve such higher quality.
No matter how much those silly old fans keep foaming at the mouth, there are many women who know how to respect themselves and fall in love with men who respect and appreciate them equivalently. Albert’s character is of the highest calibre and that’s the reason why Keiko Nagita has given him so much significance, and even more so in her latest novel.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you very much @Jesse for your encouraging words! What a delight to hear you enjoyed reading about Albert and Kimberly too! 🤗

Like you, I’ve always wondered how Albert found out how old the nurse was. Would she just tell her coworker? Probably not. 😜 In the manga she played with Poupe, who also liked her. It seems there was more about them than what is shown.

Well said about the author having given Albert more significance in her novel while downplaying Terry. It seems the author has some preferences (or favoritism?). 😅

      • Jesse says:

Well, Keiko Nagita had mentioned that her heart would beat very fast whenever she wrote about Albert. Never had she made such a statement for the other characters even though she clearly cherished all of them.

        • Lynn says:

Exactly. For Nagita, Albert constituted an upper tier character. Those who try to trash and downplay his character are delusional and dumb.

        • Ms Puddle says:

Oh yes, @Jesse. That’s a good reminder to us how much Nagita sensei loves this particular character she created decades ago. 😍

  7. Sarah says:

    Hi Ms Puddle!

Thanks for finding the time to post an additional chapter. No worries about it being brief. It’s perfectly understandable that you got a real life and you focus on having a healthy “relationship” with your hobbies and pastime. There’s nothing worse and more pathetic than those fans who obsess over a mere fictional character and often lash out against those who don’t share their delusions and perverse passions.

Looking forward to your next update when convenient for you. We’ve all got priorities and real life should always come first.

    • Jesse says:

Well said! What’s even more disturbing and downright gross is that most of those fans are over 50 years old and infatuated with a teenage cartoon character who’s into alcohol, tobacco and hitting women. Fortunately, those morons are a dying race and the younger generation of women are in their greatest majority averse to such lowlife scum whether in fiction or actuality.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you so much for your understanding, @Sarah 🥰

Yes, we’ve all got priorities and as much as I enjoy updating my story, sometimes I can only do so much. Thanks again for your continued support ❣️

  8. moira78 says:

Ciao!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Grazie @moira78❣️ I woke up and found the formatting all messed up. 😭 Thank you for reading this chapter despite the horrible paragraphs. Yes you’re absolutely right this is a transitional chapter. 👍 I’ll update again as soon as possible.

      • Sarah says:

It seemed alright but perhaps that depends on whether someone is using a laptop/desktop or iPhone.

        • Jesse says:

That’s right. The glitch tends to appear on my iPhone but not on my tablet or desktop computer.

          • Sarah says:

It can easily be bypassed though. It tends to occur in other pages too. Perhaps it’s due to having installed a firewall or adblocker.

            • Lynn says:

Just a quick note.. Such notifications only appear on the iPhones and sometimes on tablets but not on desktops or laptops. It has to do with managing the configuration settings. Should such a notification reappear, simply head on over to the configuration settings of your device and permit the websites or webpages of your choice to be accessible.

Por aquí. Me es grato saber que sigues escribiendo, no lo dejes de hacer. Donde puedo ver esta historia desde el inicio? Gracias….ya me siento celosa de Kim

    • Ms Puddle says:

¡Gracias por leer Patricia! I’ve updated this post to put the link to the first chapter in the beginning. Thank you for your interest ❣️🤗
