How are you, Ms Puddle? Pleased to have read this latest chapter. There’s no reason to be concerned about the chapter being long because it was so fascinating that it didn’t drag at all.

    All the Best!

    Hello Ms Puddle,

Thank you for uploading the next chapter to your story-in-progress. No need to be concerned about typos or length of chapter. In particular, this story is so interesting that the length of the chapters are of no issue.

I am looking forward to the further development of this story which I am sure it will great.

    Regards,
    Anita

Dear Ms Puddle, I would like to thank you for offering this awesome chapter and beautiful illustration of Candy. The colours you’ve selected have blended so well which makes this fanart look so classy.

    Talk to you again soon!

    Thanks Again,
    Lynn

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you @Lynn for your positive feedback! 😍 Glad to hear you like the chapter as well as the illustration. Thank you!
Talk to you soon. Take care 🤗

      • Lynn says:

Thank you! I have been meaning to tell you about some modern-day lads who could look a lot like some of Nagita’s characters but as depicted by Igarashi. Besides, Nagita encourages her readers to imagine her characters the ways in which Igarashi had illustrated them so there it goes. I’ll provide the links in due course..

        • Lynn says:

Here are some links… Again, this is just an opinion but I’ll appreciate your feedback:

          1. Rhett & Link – “Good Mythical Morning”; Those two dudes could easily be cast as Albert (Rhett / during his long hair and beard days) and Stear (Link):

          https://www.youtube.com/GoodMythicalMorning

Here’s Rhett with shorter hair (I think he fits the Albert character much better here. He’s also super-tall just as Albert):

          2. There’s this other guy going by the alias “Mamamax” and he could easily be cast as Terry, IMO. He’s acutely controversial but I find his content and his intention in battling against online predators as commendable. I won’t offer the link to his YouTube channel on your platform due to the aforementioned controversial and often graphic content. Instead, you can get to see what he looks and sounds like whilst being interviewed in this podcast (he’s the one wearing the black shirt and dark-grey hoodie):

          3. I also think that Felix Kjellberg (aka “Pewdiepie”) would have been a pretty good cast for Anthony (or Albert during adolescence):

To reiterate, this is all just for fun.;-)))

Wonderful, @Lynn! I’ve approved this such that whoever are interested can click on the links in your comment. I’ll check them out after work as well 😍👍

          • Sarah says:

You’re very perceptive, @Lynn! Those YouTubers could easily be cast as the aforesaid CC/CCFS characters. In particular, Rhett McLaughlin is absolutely gorgeous and his best friend, Link Neal looks like a cross between Stear and Terry. As for Mamamax, he’s awesome and the work he’s done to fight online criminals is intense as he’s caused one hell of a storm on social media and rightfully so. Whilst he looks like Terry, his character is completely different because Mamamax always demonstrates utmost respect for women. He could be regarded as a bit of a narcissist but he’s definitely not a toxic-male chauvinist as Terry. Last but not least, your opinion regarding Pewdiepie is spot on. He’s got a beautiful face and he could easily be cast as Anthony or Albert.

I’m aware of the online presence of these otherwise very prominent (albeit controversial for some) YouTubers. Your selection is excellent and I really couldn’t agree with you more, @Lynn!

            • Ms Puddle says:

Indeed I agree with you all, @Lynn, @Sarah and @DreamCatcher. They are all good looking men. In particular, I like MamaMax’s eyes. 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing, Lynn 👏👍

              • Anita says:

Hello, I also know those folks and watched plenty of their YT vids. I am, nonetheless, impressed with Lynn’s observant eye when it comes to the uncanny similarities between Mamamax and Terry. As for the similarities between Rhett and Albert, I needn’t add anything further because people have eyes and they can see for themselves; both Rhett and Albert could boast lofty heights with Nordic-looking physical features as well as an excellent sense of humour and wit.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Thank you so much @Chiaroscuro for your kind words! Your feedback put a big smile on my face 😊🤗
Best wishes to you and your family too!

  6. Fay says:

Thank you for another captivating chapter, @Ms. Puddle. I enjoyed it immensely and can’t wait for the continuation. Also I love how you included Candy’s picture wearing a red cape. It fits so well into the narrative.

I don’t think either that Candy told Miss Pony and Sister Lane about how the Leagans had treated her. I can’t remember if I have read it in CCFS. The only thing we know for sure is that she didn’t tell them anything of her hardships at the time she was living with them. Also I don’t know if she confessed to them everything about her relationship with Albert, about how they met, how he saved her from the waterfall, and especially about the time they lived together while he was amnesiac. However, in your story it does make sense that she should tell them as she needed someone to open her heart to, and who would be more suitable than her mothers? It might be as shocking to them as to Great Aunt Elroy to hear about their cohabitation, but the difference between the three ladies was that Miss Pony and Sister Lane would trust Candy completely and never doubt about her innocence, while Great Aunt Elroy needed confirmation from both her nephew and the orphan girl that they hadn’t crossed the line.

Terry’s absence from your story makes sense too. The period which you write about does not include Terry in CCFS either, and as you say, by the time Candy went back to Pony’s Home, he was not in the picture anymore. Both Nagita’s novel and your story clearly indicate that Candy had moved on. We don’t know if Terry did the same, but since she had turned page in her life, no letter from him telling her that “nothing had changed” would make any difference to her.

I’d like to congratulate both Myra and Michelle on their brilliant comments about Terry’s relationship with Candy and with Susanna. No need to say that I fully agree with them. Well said, ladies.

    • Michelle says:

Thank you for your analysis and supporting words, @Fay!

      • Aurora says:

I agree with your brilliant comments – Fay, Michelle and Myra. All the thanks to Ms Puddle for welcoming these intelligent individuals and their perspectives.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Hello @Fay, many thanks for checking CCFS for me. I appreciate your help, my friend ❣️ What a delight to hear that you enjoyed reading this chapter!

In CCFS it’s unclear whether Candy told her foster mothers (teachers, because in Japanese Candy called them sensei) about her cohabitation with Albert or why she got fired, etc. But thanks @Fay that you think it makes sense in this story.

About Terry, in CCFS I believe a long time had elapsed between the premiere (unsure whether the ticket from Miss Eleanor Baker was for that) and the time Candy wrote an unsent letter to Terry, in which she mentioned about the tremendous success of Hamlet and that it’s decided to be performed in UK, etc. Candy actually said something like “long run after long run”. Remember she also wrote to Miss Baker it had been an extremely (surprisingly) long time since they met in Rockstown, therefore, all this time Candy had not mentioned Terry much in CCFS. He’s not in her life anymore even though he will probably remain special to her.

So I totally agree with you that Terry’s brief letter won’t make much an impact in Candy’s life by then, especially she was at ease mentioning him and Susanna being wonderful people. There’s no need for Candy to lie to herself because she’s not going to send the letter. 😉

      Well said!

  7. Valkyrie says:

    Hi there!
You left one hell of a cliff-hanger with this new chapter. I can’t wait to read the next one. I’m also glad you’ve added new characters into the story because they intensify the suspense and appear to act as a form of catalyst to the main characters we already know from the original Candy Candy story.
Thank you for taking the time to share this new story of yours with us even though you’re so busy at work. This is most appreciated.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you @Valkyrie for reading this new chapter❣️I have to stop there because it’s getting too long already lol 😉

Glad you like my new characters so far, which is very encouraging. Yes I’m very busy, but aren’t we all? I enjoy writing and drawing, both of which are great ways to escape and relieve stress 🤗

      • Valkyrie says:

True.. We’re all so busy these days. The pandemic has really turned everything upside down for most people.
Have you received the booster jab yet? The Pfizer CEO is talking about a new vax purported specifically for the Omicron variant but he more than implied that this process will comprise a series of further vaccinations. If I’m not mistaken, the representatives of the Moderna vaccine have also issued similar announcements. I don’t think that this will go down well with the general public and the anti-vaxxers will most possibly spin-doctor this to their own advantage and perverse rhetoric.
Let’s see how this will go..

        • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you @Valkyrie for asking. Yes the distributions for booster shots have improved a lot recently, and the pharmacists in many pharmacies, large or small, could administer vaccines, so yes, I just got mine. I felt more tired than usual for two days but that was it. How about you?

I really hope we don’t need more boosters after this… It seems never ending and I agree with you that this essentially fuels the anti-vaxxers even more 😐

          • Valkyrie says:

I haven’t received my booster shot as it’s not my turn yet. I’ve been considering the new vaccine which will probably be approved by the FDA which is the Novavax one. It’s already been approved in the EU and in other countries so it’s probably just a matter of time until it’s approved worldwide.

            • Ms Puddle says:

I’m not familiar with that new vaccine @Valkyrie. What makes you want to try that?

              • Valkyrie says:

Based on scientific research so far, that particular vaccine is considered to be more effective in combating the Omicron variant in tandem with having fewer and milder side-effects. To reiterate, this is based on the findings as of date. Apparently, more research findings will be brought forth to the general public in the near future.

                • Christine says:

I’ve read about the Novavax vaccine as well and it appears that it’s appealing to those who are hesitant in getting the mRNA-based jabs.

                • Ms Puddle says:

That sounds like a great alternative, and hopefully this will help those indecisive people to get vaccinated 👍

                • Anita says:

Hello, I’ll just chime in a bit and include the info that the Novavax vaccine is considered to be suitable for those who are prone to developing allergic reactions to the mRNA vaccines.

                • Ms Puddle says:

I see. Thanks @Anita for the additional info. Are you considering this new vaccine too?

                • Valkyrie says:

                  Good point!

                • Anita says:

If the research about this specific vaccine continues to be encouraging, I will consider it. Thanks for asking.

                • Ms Puddle says:

I watched the news, @Anita. UK will drop the restrictions and people are no longer required to wear masks anywhere. It seems a bit too soon to me but I’m afraid many people are sick and tired of the pandemic by now. 🙁 Anyway, take good care of yourself! 🙏

                • Anita says:

Restrictions appear to be dropping or becoming less strict in quite a few countries apart from the UK. I consider the major factor being the financial one as the global economy is in shambles. I agree you though that people are getting sick and tired of having to compromise their otherwise rudimentary human rights.

  8. Christine says:

Hello @Ms Puddle and thank you very much for the updates surrounding your most recent fanfiction.

Furthermore, the analysis and elucidations provided by @Myra and @Michelle are intelligent and erudite.

    All best and take care!

    • Ms Puddle says:

Thank you @Christine for catching up! Glad to hear that you like their comments too!

Take care and stay safe 🤗

      • Christine says:

Thank you, @Ms Puddle. I hope you don’t mind if I ask a question regarding the old and new novel when referring to the young American nurse Albert met and worked with in Africa. Is there any mention of her in the old novel and if so, are there any differences?
Thank you again and take care!

        • Ms Puddle says:

Hello @Christine, unfortunately I haven’t read this part in the old novel, but I suppose it will be similar to the manga. There are minor differences. For example, Albert mentioned the nurse got along well with Poupe and her age was 20, whereas in CCFS he mentioned nothing about Poupe and her age was almost 20. Hope I have answered your questions. 🤗

I would like to hear from you!
