Hhahaha I can’t believe I come back to this post and nominate David Beckham as Albert. His young version as young Albert, and now as he’s (gracefully and “yummy-ly”) matured, he could be matured Albert on CCFS.

    **just saw him at magazine**

    • Ms Puddle says:

You’re still awake, oh dear Reeka!!
Yes, David Beckham of course! Sexy and handsome but incredibly faithful, family man! 😀

Do you have a link to that particular photo that kept you awake? 😛

      • Reeka says:

LOL, I was about to sleep yesterday.

No, I don’t have the link, I saw it in magazine. But any picture will do though :). Beckham looked boyish in his 20s, with light blonde hair. Now he often wears dark blonde or brown hair. He’s just a liiiiiiitle bit shorter than our Albert, he’s 1.83.

Yes, he’s such a family man ( don’t jinx it!). Once he was hit by a scandal, but at the end of the day he’s still committed to his family. Oh well, if you have a man like him, sure you don’t expect him to involve in zero affairs. It’s like asking snow in a sahara. 🙂

        • Ms Puddle says:

Yeah, and I heard he was a doting father, especially to Harper his adorable girl! I read somewhere in a magazine saying something like “Don’t women want to be in Harper’s shoes?” 😉

  2. Hi

I’m too lazy to paste all the links of pictures of Albert that visualized by fans. I thought I’d paste the album instead, so you can pick them all lol.

I just posted a new image as Albert in my page today. 🙂

  3. Ana says:

Daddy long legs gives us a clear example of that! I’ve read Mizuki based Candy’s story on that novel.

I found some pics of Travies wearing clothes but I guess cannot post them here, Will do it on FB… 😀

I like Brad Pitt in Legends of the fall or Meet Joe Black, althought I guess he was not in his twenties there…

    • Reeka says:

That was I’ve told Ms Puddle some time ago. We all really think alike! Yes, Young Brad Pitt seems almost perfect, especially when he was in Meet Joe Black. If only he was 4 inches taller! Sigh.

And Ms Puddle knows the other fave candidate of mine. Paul Walker. For me he was (again) almost perfect for matured Albert. Probably in CCFS timeline, 1930s, so he’s around 45 y.o. He looked strong, yet had very kind eyes and friendly smile.

      • Ms Puddle says:

Yes indeed. Brad Pitt is a great choice when he was younger. Guess what? His real name is William Bradley Pitt, but he goes by his middle name… just like WAA LOL!
Even now that he’s 50 he has the charming charisma as a matured man. Isn’t he 1.8m tall? To me, that’s tall enough. 😛

I agree Paul Walker would have been an excellent candidate for Albert in CCFS. What a tragic death though… sigh

      • Ana says:

I do like Paul Walker, specially his smile but I guess something is missing. It’s too hard to find a man that has all Albert’s qualities. If only we can make our Albertestein…. lol…

I do like Brad womack from the Bachelor, some features of Aaron Eckhart (specially in Erin Brokovich), a guy that I like a lot is Alex Pettyfer, he reminds me an amnesic Albert after having a haircut… 🙂 but actually he is young… 24…

Is Brad Pitt only 1.80m ?? 🙁 lol… I thought he was taller! Well, I have to agree with Reeka, MsPuddle… lol… if only he was a little bit taller… 😀

        • Ms Puddle says:

To me, Paul Walker would have been great if he looked less “tough guy” (more tender perhaps?)… oh well…

Wow, these are all great choices, dear Ana! I’ll keep them for my next post.

Yes, Brad Pitt is 1.8m tall, but to me that’s quite tall already. Rumors said that when he made the movie “Interview with Vampire” with Tom Cruise, the much shorter actor wanted to wear high heels so that he didn’t look that short when compared to his partner in many scenes 😛

          • Ana says:

Well, I have a problem with height, lol… so he isn’t really tall at least for me, although he is, lol…. my dad was taller than him :p

And Tom Cruise, oh well he is soooooooo short… lol… no wonder why he wanted to wear heels… 😀

Glad you liked my other choices, every time I see them I can’t help to think about Albert.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Ana, you have a strict requirement, comparing an actor to your dad… 😛
About Tom Cruise, I got that from rumors, though I wasn’t surprised… LOL
Thanks for providing candidates to me, Ana dear!

          • Reeka says:

I have to ageee with Ana, 1.8M was a tad short for Albert. It’s the height I imagine for Terry, Archie, & Stear. Albert was like 2-4 inches taller than them all.

I imagine Candy was quite petite, 1.6 m at max? And she’s a little shorter than Albert’s shoulder. So yes, I think Albert must be over 1.85 m.

Ana : you must a really tall woman. Lucky you :). I am very petite. Even for an asian, I’m a small woman with short pair of legs. Sigh.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Dear Reeka, FYI, according to some experts in CC world, Candy is about 155 cm tall and Albert is 185 cm tall.
I thought the same too about Ana. She must be a tall lady 😀

              • Ana says:

LOL… say that to my mom and sisters please!!! LOL… I’m not tall, actually my height is 5’5 or 1.66 m but since I am the shortest in my family they are always picking on me… 😉

So 1.85…. sounds great! (big smile on my face)

                • Ms Puddle says:

I wish I would be 5’5 Ana! That’s tall to me. In fact, all my cousins are tall (at least 5’5 or taller) except those in my family… 😀
Yes, 1.85 m sounds dreamy enough. In fact, from the drawings, all the other male characters are at least 5 cm shorter than Albert LOL

          • Reeka-

I knew I saw you in the page. 😉

          • Ana-

You’re still tall, though. They say the shortest in height is 5ft. 🙂

        • Reeka says:

I second your choice on Aaron Eckhart. I see Albert’s trait in him as well.

It’s Albert’s facial feature that somehow was difficult to be actualized. We saw him on many different angles & characters, so he kinda possessed complex aura. He was mostly gentle and kind, yet he’s strong and tough. He’s naturally an adventurer, a free spirit, a bit of a rebel, but he later looked elegant, posh & imposing, and authoritative.

And I always imagine him having strong & chiseled jaw. I could see Paul Walker’s face was a bit squarish for Albert though.

Sigh. It’s over midnight here in the east part if the globe, & i’m describing Albert while imagining him. I obviously really need a help.

          • Ms Puddle says:

Very well said, Reeka! Albert was such a fascinating and complex character, and the number of changes/stages he had gone through in the manga was simply amazing! However, to me, the most important trait was that he was a tender/kind man, as Candy had always described.

Good night, Reeka! Let’s chat some more when you wake up… LOL 😛

          • Reeka says:

Yes, Ms Puddle, he had always looked so gentle and tender in the way he treated Candy. Because up to mid of volume 9, we had only seen his connection to Candy. Even later he closely befriended Candy’s friends, we thought it’s all because of her. So wrong were we! It’s so sweet to see the always gentle Albert could scold the most frightening Aunt Elroy, for Candy’s sake. So I assumed, his gentleness and loving attitude were exclusively Candy’s. I could see that in business world he acted coolly with no non sense :).

            • Ms Puddle says:

Exactly! Very well said, Reeka! That was one big reason why I think he wasn’t afraid of his aunt at all, and he indeed had all the authority as the family head. He could stand up for Candy when she needed him.

          • Reeka says:

Well, Albert was probably only afraid of one person, Candy. 😀 Afraid to make her sad, to make her hate him ( for any reason) or go away from his reach. Speaking of it, suddenly I remember a scene in LNF when Albert reunited with Candy in hospital. Also, a heart wrecking scene in Forever’s 90 days when Albert chased Candy in the woods after the unexpected revelation. Both scenes were really touching as I could see his vulnerability of a thought of losing her. **sigh**

I think there’s a reason why Mizuki showed us the rebellious side of young Albert. So later we could grab the idea of him being capable at doing anything what his heart believed.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Yup! Can’t agree with you more. He cared about Candy so much so that he was afraid of losing her… Sigh.

That’s right about Albert’s strength and stubbornness, so I don’t think he as a real man would wait indefinitely to marry the woman he loved.

      • Reeka, I miss Paul Walker, and I agree that he’d have been perfect as Albert for CCFS if anyone plans to make Mizuki’s novel as a movie.

Do you know he’s an animal lover like Albert?

        • Not just an animal lover, but he loves to travel around the world as well. And like Albert, PW doesn’t like to mingle at parties often and he preferred to spare his time at his charities until the time of his death. 🙁

          • Reeka says:

Yes dear, I’ve heard he had involved on many charities. In fact, he died on the charity event, right? God bless his soul. Yeah, he seemed so down to earth as well, not a kind of high profile celebrity.

Vin Diesel seems to love him dearly, I follow Vin’s Facebook account, and until now he’s still often reminiscing his good times with PW. Such loving friends they were.

    • Ms Puddle says:

Exactly, Ana dear! What Judy said sounded so much like Candy! Judy missed Master Jervis terribly after two months of not hearing anything from him… this is so familiar, isn’t it? 😉
Thanks for all the pics! I saw them too! I wanted to find one that shows his smile, but the ones you gave me were excellent choices!
I also like Brad Pitt in those two movies, and he was in his thirties back then I believe. Yet he had a baby face, so he looked more like a man in his twenties in Legends of the fall or Meet Joe Black 😀

      • Ana says:

When I read Daddy Long Legs, I fell in love with him, he recalled me Albert so… You can see there all things he did for Judy and his feelings for her and Judy… yes, she missed him so much.

To be hones, I don’t like Travis smile… lol… except the one in the picture you posted. 😉

        • Ms Puddle says:

Both Judy and Master Jervis were adorable characters, and no wonder this “Daddy-long-legs” story inspired many other writers!

I agree with you about Travis Fimmel… not every man has charming smiles… Some people look better without smiling, just like this male model/actor.

        • Reeka says:

Actually, have Mizuki ever really said she had got inspired by DLL story? I’m just curious 🙂 Though without her saying, we knew it.

Ms Puddle, so you did re-read the last scene when Judy met her dear DLL in his study room, didn’t you? How close that scene with Uncle William revelation, right? 🙂 I was so excited when I first read that.

          • Ms Puddle says:

I don’t know about that, Reeka, but it was so obvious right?

Yes I picked up the book again and read the last few pages first lol! That scene was nearly the same as the anime version but not the manga, which was even more romantic 🙂

          • Reeka says:

When you told me that in manga Albert was in solarium, not study room as in anime, I was curious how I always remembered it in study. So I thought probably it was the translation because such Solarium is not common in my country. My guess was right, in my manga it said ” Uncle William may be in reading room”. To be honest I don’t really remember the anime well. I just remember some plots were not in right order as manga, & some scenes were different. Last time I watched it probably was 6-7 years ago. I have the anime, but not so fond of it because I found the drawing is not as good as manga.

I’m planning to buy the colourful korean version online, if they’re still available. 😀

            • Ms Puddle says:

Solarium is not common on your side I guess because you always have sunshine and warmth all year round? Here we only have a few months of summer :-). Yet, not many people have such grand sunrooms in their house 😛

I don’t like the anime because I found it dragging and slow, plus they added lots of unnecessary scenes … Yes, the drawings aren’t as exquisite as those in the manga.

The Korean version is great! Try it! 🙂

          • What bothers me is what the summary said on the image. Terry is Candy’s soulmate… : ( Obviously I didn’t believe that. Whoever wrote that is probably Terryfan lol, jmo.

          • Reeka says:

            Thank you, dear CAW! 🙂

Tsk. People are just being helplessly romantic because there was a kissing scene between C & T. They even didn’t bother the slapping and the fact that Candy was crying afterward. Some do think a rough guy was hot. Yes, for a brief episode in our teenage. But, do we really want someone who had a capability to hurt you physically to be your husband? Whatever the reason, even it’s for love.

            • Ms Puddle says:

Can’t agree with you more. His bad boy image was what made him attractive, but seriously T & C were so different, if not incompatible

  4. Reeka says:

ahahaha … Zac is cool here. Can we have Zac’s face ( dye his hair into dark blonde and give him sky blue lenses), Travis’s body, and Brenton’s height? 😀

See, there’s no mortal equal to Albert’s charm. He’s just impossible. Igarashi drew him so perfect.
